Open Call for Participants - Act One: Rehearsing Rehearsal with Aliaskar Abarkas.
A space for collective choreography, composition, and what is yet to come.

Act 1 is a new phase of an ongoing project by Aliaskar Abarkas, cohort member of the Rose Choreographic School, hosted at Sadler’s Wells East.

The workshops involve loosely structured choreographic directions led by Aliaskar alongside participants and invited guests, exploring how movement, voice, rhythm, and sound can generate moments of collective attunement. Emerging from an engagement with contemporary dance, the sessions emphasise choreo-sonic practice: a mode of choreographing that centres sound and listening as forces shaping relationships between bodies in motion. Through voice, breath, rhythm, silence, and text, sound becomes a way of organising movement, atmosphere, and shared experience.

Act 1 continues Act 0: Rehearsing Rehearsal (September 2025 – February 2026), a series of sessions that brought participants together through performative activities, readings, and collective sound-making to explore how temporary forms of collective presence can emerge.

We welcome expressions of interest from poets, dancers, puppeteers, musicians, and anyone curious about working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment of shared learning and exchange. While priority will be given to participants from Act 0, the project remains open to new members and encounters.

Guest contributors to the project include: Candela Capitan, Emma Noelle Clark, Hyelim Kim, Lewis Walker, and others.

Workshops run on Sunday afternoons every few weeks from March–December 2026. Regular attendance is required.

Eligibility and Commitment: Participants need to be 18+. Participants will need to commit to attending sessions regularly, understanding that availability may shift over time.
